Even though I am in the middle of moving houses, there are some boxes that just cannot stay packed. Fit-box is definitely one of them as it contains high quality and interesting fitness products, month after month.
The box this month was as always, a white cardboard box with the Fit-box logo at the top and it contained 8 products of which 6 were consumable food items.
From left to right as seen in the picture these were: a hat, a magazine, an energy bar, a protein snack, a protein chocolate, protein crisps, protein porridge and a protein shake! Lot of protein, just how we like it!
Let’s dive in and see how these products performed. Bear in mind that these are my personal opinions and health, fitness and taste can be very personal things as we all have different biological builds. What worked for me might not work for you and vice versa. If you tried any of these products please leave your comments below!

My Protein Hat
Is it just me or does anyone else love fitness apparel? Winter is coming and this hat will definitely come in handy.
This winter hat from My Protein is 100% acrylic but it feels nicely thick, soft and of high quality. I love that it is grey, there are too many black hats of this type out there!
I have to say though, the My Protein logo really didn’t work well on this hat. To me it just looks like four and a half lines. It’s meant to be “MP” but the tiny curve corners that shape their logo did not come across well on this item.
Anyhow, even though it’s not that cold yet I’ve already been wearing this and I love how warm my head feels. It’s super cosy and comfortable and is a great item to receive in a fitness box. SCORE = 9/10
Women’s Health November 2017
This is a great magazine to read while lying on the sofa with a cup of coffee. I subscribe to this already so I am not excited to receive it in this box but I think it is a great item for those who don’t get it otherwise.
I have considered cancelling my subscription and receiving this through the Fit-Box but it doesn’t seem to be a stationary object, as it is sometimes not included.
Personally, I am happy with not having the magazine in the box, not only because I subscribe to it but also because I’d love to receive 2 non-consumable fitness items that are not of the one-time use and throw away type. Like for example the food tupper or the fitness progress diary that Fit-Box included last month. Or fitness apparel. More fitness apparel please! SCORE = 9/10
USN Natures Energy Bar
If you like nuts, you are going to love this one. It tastes very strongly of nuts with a hint of peanut butter, and even though personally I am not a peanut fan, I thoroughly enjoyed this bar.
It doesn’t taste synthetic at all and there is no trace of that typical after taste that some energy and protein bars give. It is a little on the dry side, but it suits the nutty taste and it has a slight sweet after taste.
It is a very pleasant energy bar which provides you with 117kcals, 3.6g of fat, 15.6g of carbs of which 9.6g are sugars and 5.1g of protein.
This is a small energy snack for when you are on the go or need that little extra energy intake or even when you are craving something sweet and nutty. SCORE = 9/10
Oatein Brownie Double Choc Chip Flavour
If I’m honest, I wasn’t very excited when I first saw this. It sounds like a nice snack but the picture on the outer packaging just doesn’t look appetising. Is it just me?
It’s true what they say though, don’t judge things by their cover, as the actual brownie/cookie inside was delicious. In fact, I swear it tastes almost exactly like the SciMX PRO2GO Double Chocolate Chip Protein Cookies that I absolutely love. Unfortunately, I’ve already packed my entire house, so I couldn’t open one of the SciMX and try them next to each other, but from memory they taste very similar. So, so similar it is strange. Their texture is also similar, the only difference is the overall shape and how many choc chips there are. The SciMX looks exactly like a normal cookie where the Oatein has more of a square shape.
This 60g cookie will give you 17g of protein, 248kcals, 6.7g of fat and 24.2g of cabrs of which 4.2g are sugars.
The SciMX cookie is 75g, provides 23g of protein, 303kcals, 9.6g of fat and 30.5g of carbs of which 4g are sugars.
The stats are super similar if you take both of them on a 100g serving. Dare I say, this brownie looks like a dupe, nutritionally wise and taste wise.
One Oatein will cost you £1.06, if you buy 15 from Active Sports Nutrition, whereas a SciMX cookie will cost you £1.18, if you buy 12 of them from SciMX. Again, similar price but if you take into consideration that the SciMX contains 15g more product, it is actually cheaper by ~£0.20 and so better value for money, especially if you go through them a lot. Both, though, are very cheap for what they provide. SCORE = 9/10
Milky Way Protein
Oh my gosh! Whoever had this idea of making a protein Milky Way, thank you. Thank you, on behalf of every fitness protein junkie with a sweet tooth out there. What an absolutely amazing idea!
In case you haven’t figured it out already, I love the Milky Way chocolate. However, as a fitness junkie my chocolate eating habits are very limited and rare. So, having a protein version of a chocolate you love…what else could you ask for really?
It of course tastes similar to the normal Milky Way chocolate. There is no synthetic taste whatsoever. I definitely could not have guessed that there is 19.2g of protein goodness in here! This chocolate is worth the entire 183kcal, has 8g of fat and 18.6g of carbs of which 10.1g are sugars. What a nice treat to satisfy your chocolate urges!
There is only one problem with this protein chocolate. Fit-box only included one and it’s just not enough! We want more! We won’t be grumpy if you accidentally repeat this item in the month’s coming! Just saying…SCORE = 10/10
My Protein Protein Crisps Barbeque Flavour
All I can tell you on this is: I had to fight my partner around the house for this bag. These crisps are so tasty I cannot believe they are primarily made of protein! There is no synthetic protein after taste, they taste as they should, like barbeque, and it feels like eating a type of crisps.
They are crunchy enough to make you feel like you are eating a crisp snack but also moist enough to be a pleasurable snack. They look like thicker, airy crisps and they just taste so good.
This 25g bag provides you with 11g of protein which although it might not sound a lot, it is almost 50% of the weight! Ok 44% to be exact but that’s still a lot. This comes at the expense of 100kcal, 3.3g of fat and 4.4g of carbs of which 1.4g are sugars. I have to admit, the stats are great too.
I can’t wait to try other flavours too. You can buy a box containing 6 bags of 30g each, from My Protein, for £6.99. Super affordable too. I’ve already ordered some and I am hoping that my partner doesn’t find out! #hidetheprotein #lifeslittlesecrets SCORE = 10/10
FUEL Protein Porridge Golden Syrup
This is a protein infused, instant porridge pot. These breakfast oat pots are very convenient as all you need to do is add hot water and wait for a couple of minutes. I’ve been having these for a while now and I love them.
They look like oats and taste nicely like golden syrup oats. If you have super sensitive taste like me, you might be able to faintly tell there is synthetic protein in it but you most likely won’t notice.
Don’t imagine that this will give you a chicken breast amount of protein though, it is still only 13.4g and that’s only 5.2g more protein than a standard Quaker oats pot. This will cost you 256kcals, 3.2g of fat and 41.3g of carbs of which 15.5g are sugars.
For comparison, a standard Quaker oat pot which is 57g (the Fuel one is 70g) would have provided you with 8.2g of protein, 215kcals, 3.2g of fat and 38.6f of carbs of which 13.3g are sugars.
If you look at their stats per serving pot the difference might not be so striking. However, if you compare them on a 100g serving there is an obvious difference. The Fuel one has slightly less fat but almost double the protein, slightly less carbs and less sugar for an almost same amount of kcals. Definitely worth the nutritional stats in the long run.
I love the Fuel brand and I regularly consume a lot of their products. They are very high quality and I definitely recommend them. I especially love their Fuel Chocolate Liquid Protein Breakfast. SCORE = 10/10
Grenade High Protein Shake Chocolate Mint Flavour
And…another good product. I must admit, I am a Grenade fan overall. They produce high quality products with good taste and this protein shake was not an exception.
I can imagine that the chocolate mint flavour might not be a favourite for all but personally, I absolutely loved it. It tasted exactly like chocolate mint with no artificial or protein after taste. If I was served this as a milkshake I wouldn’t have guessed that it is a protein shake, which is amazing. The taste is spot on!
This is a highly convenient protein shake, especially when you are on the go. It will provide you with 25g of protein, only 7.3g of carbs of which 6.6g are sugars, 7.3g of fat and all at the expense of 195 kcal.
I love everything about this. The branding is spot on, the product tastes, looks and smells good and the nutritional stats are great. I even like that the consistency is not as thick as a milkshake but neither as thin as water. Great stuff! SCORE = 10/10
Overall, I really liked this month’s box. Fit-box seems to include quality and big known brand products, month after month, and it is great. This is one of the few boxes out there that gets so many high scoring products contained in one box and is definitely one of the packages I look forward to opening every month. If you read my other, non Fit-box reviews, you will see that I don’t give out 9s and 10s often. I do wish they replace the box with a slightly better quality one though and that there is more apparel to come! Perhaps Fit-box apparel?
Initial box score, in terms of products and first feelings = 9/10
Overall box score after product testing (a sum of product scores) = 9.5/10
Star product = A 9.5 overall box score, after product testing, is the highest score I’ve given to any subscription box I’ve ever reviewed (including the beauty ones) so how can I pick a favourite product?!
Did you get this month’s Fit-Box? What did you think of the products? Have you tried any of the products listed? Let me know your experiences!
