Look Fantastic went for a “Dark Wonder” theme this month and it came with a gorgeous dark blue, burgundy and gold colour box. The Look Fantastic boxes are always beautiful and sturdy, no matter of the theme, but this month the theme works really well for November and for the box design itself. Love it!
The products contained are meant to leave you dazzling in the moonlight and while some of the literally will do just that, others are a little harder to fit into the theme.
This beauty box always comes with a quote under the lid and this month it said: “Goya. The suspension of disbelief that occurs in good storytelling; a story that feels like reality”. I guess it sort of fits with the “Dark Wonder” theme, as the nights become darker and colder we tend to do a lot more, a perhaps even scarier, storytelling. Nevertheless, I actually really enjoy the quote of the month, even if it has nothing to do with the theme, because it’s almost always been a word in a language or an express that I didn’t know and it’s nice to learn!
The Look Fantastic box also always comes with a small monthly Beauty Magazine that has a little more information about the products contained and some other featured products, and a travel size, but full edition, of the ELLE magazine. This beauty box is such an amazing value for money.

This month’s box contained 6 products as always. From left to right as seen in the picture below, the products were: a bath bomb, a day cream, a highlighter, an exfoliator, an eyeliner and a liquid lipstick.
Let’s have a look at the products in more detail. These are short reviews that cover first impressions and experiences from using the products. For full reviews, including ingredient analysis and if I would recommend a product or not, check out: Bonds of Beauty (all articles here). Bear in mind that these are my personal opinions and that beauty is a very personal thing, we all have different skin, requirements and biological build which can influence things. Bubblet Look Fantastic Dark Wonder Bath Bomb
I really like that Look Fantastic is doing their own branded stuff sometimes. I’ve so far really enjoyed their brushes and prevcious bath bombs. Keep it up Look Fantastic!
This bath bomb is dedicated to the “Dark Wonder” theme of the box and is nicely purple coloured. It contains Acai Berry & Hibisccus Tea and all you need to do is drop it under hot water and enjoy.
It is paraben free and lasts for 12M.
I’ve been incredibly busy and I haven’t had time for a bath so in the interest of fairness I will not score this product as I haven’t tried it yet.
However, I think it’s a lovely beauty box addition and I’m really looking forward to trying it out over the weekend.
Ren Evercalm Global Protection Day Cream
This is a day cream that is meant to sooth your sensitive, dry and inflamed rashy skin. According to the Look Fantastic beauty magazine, it is said to “train your skin to be less sensitive” and as strange as that might sound it could actually be true. One of the bigger reasons of sensitive skin is a damaged outter barrier, so any good skincare that will nourish and restore your skin could potentially offer you a reduction in “sensitivity”.
For science based information check out: What is sensitive skin? What are the causes and what can we do?
This product didn’t come with outer packaging and it doesn’t have it’s ingredients listed on it so I can’t really quickly comment on whether this could actually help or not, without looking in detail into it, which beats the point of a first impression post!
Nevertheless, the cream has a medium strength floral scent which is pleasant, spreads easily and is absorbed quickly. The skin is left feeling soft and moisturised.
This 15mL plastic tube is likely a travel size and while it doesn’t particulaly look nicely designed or pretty, it does the job! This product lasts for 9M. SCORE = 7/10
Laura Geller Baked Gelato Swirl Illuminator in Colour Gilded Honey
I don’t often go for gold highlighters, because I have a very pale complexion, and I’m also not a baked highligher or eyeshadow fan but this one is so beautiful I just want to use it everywhere!
I love that it looks like a swirl, it makes you feel bad for ruining it and the colour is just gorgeous. It doesn’t add a lot of texture and it’s also usable as an eyeshadow or inner eye highlighter etc.
The only downside to this specific item is how small it is and the fact that the packaging is the drugstore, cheap plastic type. However, I’d assume that this is just because this is, as it says on the packaging, a “sample not for sale”. Samples tend to bring the perceived value of the box down and leave you with dissapointed feelings as you wouldn’t want to pay for free stuff!
This also means that this item doesn’t come with information like how long it lasts or ingredients. SCORE = 8/10
Elemis Papaya Enzyme Peel
This exfoliator is leaves the skin softer and smoother and could even potentially nourish your skin to an extent (considering it is a rinse off product), as it contains some good ingredients.
It has a subtle cosmetic scent with a fruity hint and does not contain exfoliating beads. This is an eznyme exfoliator meaning it dissolves dead cells without causing any physical damage to the skin.
All you need to do is apply it on clean skin for 10 minutes and then rinse. It is dermatologically tested and not tested on animals.
It overall works well and lasts 6M. This is a 15mL plastic tube which is likely a travel size. SCORE = 9/10
Mellow Precision Pen Eyeliner
Who doesn’t beed a black eyeliner? If you ever subscribe to a beauty box you will likely end up with lots of these but at the same time, you will use them up!
I really liked this eyeliner, especially because the colour is proper black. I’m personally not a big fan of the fel tip liners, I prefer the brush ones, but this one works well and you can control the thickness of the line easily.
It also came with its outer packaging which is great and it looks nice and elegant. It’s durable and the plastic pen doesn’t look or feel cheap.
The formulation is very simple, only 7 ingredients, but what else would you expect from an eyeliner. It is paraben free and lasts for 12M.
Overall it works very well, doesn’t smudge and although you can delete the line off with water, it doesn’t smudge in the process, just fades away.
This 1.8g liner is a full size which retails for £14.00. SCORE = 8/10
Contour Cosmetics Matte Liquid Lipstick
Last but not least, who doesn’t love finding a lipstick in their beauty box?!
It works acceptably ok, the colour is beautiful, it dries fast and it doesn’t crack. Howevever, it comes off when eating or drinking and it needs constant re-touching or re-applying. It’s not the most resiliant liquid lipstick I’ve tried but it is of reasonable quality.
The wand is of standard quality and slightly more petite than a lot of others, which actually makes it easier to use.
The formulation is very simple, there are only 9 ingredients, so in general is not the most nourishing liquid lipstick you could get but at the same time, there is only so much you can expect from a liquid lipstick.
This is a full size, 2.5mL, lipstick which retails for £22 as a lip kit with a liner and lasts for 12M. SCORE = 7/10
Overall, this month’s box was really nice. The box design was simple but elegant, the theme was very fitting and the products contained were exciting. What an amazing value for money for just £15.
Initial box score, in terms of products and first feelings = 8/10
Overall box score after product testing (average of product scores) = 7.8/10
Star product = Elemis Papaya Enzyme Peel
