I don’t know how it’s March 2019 already but it’s somehow time for another Look Fantastic unboxing! The theme this month was “in the spotlight” and it was all about favourite beauty products and trends.
The box had a blue-purple pattern on the lid and the bottom was a beautiful purple-pink. The Look Fantastic box always comes with a quote under the lid and this month it said: “Get ready to steal the spotlight”, which suits the theme and creates excitement. I loved this month’s theme and box and the contents fit very well!
The Look Fantastic box also always comes with a small monthly Beauty Magazine that has a little more information about the products contained and some other featured products, and a travel size, but full edition, of the ELLE magazine. This beauty box is such an amazing value for money. To subscribe to Look Fantastic and get £5 off your first box click here.
This month’s box contained 6 products. From left to right as seen in the picture below, the products were: a hand cream, a lip balm, a face mask, a highlighter, a face cleanser and a serum.
Let’s have a look at the products in more detail. These are short reviews that cover first impressions and experiences from using the products. For full reviews, including ingredient analysis and if I would recommend a product or not, check out: Bonds of Beauty (all articles here). Bear in mind that these are my personal opinions and that beauty is a very personal thing, we all have different skin, requirements and biological build which can influence things. What worked for me might not work for you and vice versa, please leave your comments below!
Rituals The Ritual Of Sakura Soothing Hand Balm
Well who doesn’t like the Rituals. Their products always smell divine and a lot of them contain good ingredients.
This hand cream is not an exception. It contains some good ingredients, smells like baby powder meets milk meets something floral, in a good way, and makes the skin feel very soft. It gives an instant hydrated feeling which lasts for a while but it’s not as deeply moisturising as some other hand creams.
I might dedicate an entire post on this cream but for now, it’s been a very pleasant experience and I want to use it just for the scent!
This 70mL tube is a travel size that lasts for 12M. The full size, 175mL bottle retails for £12. SCORE = 8/10
EOS Lip Balm
This cute little lip balm comes in a plastic, but very cute looking, ball that opens by twisting it. The lip balm ball inside is very easy to use by just sliding it across the lips.
Although this lip balm contains very good ingredients, much better than a lot of others out there, it just somehow doesn’t work. The moisturising feeling is very superficial and the lips almost feel dry even when the lip balm is on them!
This is a prime example of “good ingredient list doesn’t always translate to a top notch product” and it is an absolute shame!
This product is full size, 7g, lasts for 24M and retails for £6.50. SCORE = 6.5/10
Mádara Smart Anti-Pollution Charcoal and Mud Repair Mask
This mask is a black liquid that you are supposed to put all over a clean and dry face. After 10 minutes it dries out and almost looks like those black peel off masks but it’s not a peel off! You can remove this mask by washing you face with lukewarm water.
It’s a pleasant experience overall and my skin was left feeling clean but neither moisturised or dry (although it was more on the dry than moisturised side). The product has a very subtle scent of mud but it is not unpleasant.
The ingredient list is not as fancy as the product might imply but there are definitely some good ingredients in there.
This product is vegan and can be used 2-3 times a week. This 12.5mL tube is a travel size but the full size, 60mL, retails for £24. SCORE = 6/10
Morphe Mini Highlighter in Spark
I love that Look Fantastic included Morphe, it’s the first UK beauty box that I’ve seen to do so! Keep it up Look Fantastic!
This cute little highlighter might look small but it will last you much longer than you think. The colour spark is a beautiful and natural looking gold that even the lighter skin tones can use. It doesn’t create texture or emphasise pores and it looks natural and effortless on the skin.
It doesn’t really smell of anything other than perhaps of subtle cosmetic powder. It contains vitamin E and lasts for 12M. This 3g highlighter is a mini but the full size, 8g, retails for £14. SCORE = 8/10
Omorovicza Cleansing Foam
This is a wet face cleanser with a very fresh smell of lime combined with something I couldn’t define. The packaging is very nice, simple but elegant.
It cleans the face nicely and even takes out makeup very well. It doesn’t strip out your natural face oils completely, so you are left with a nice clean but hydrated skin feeling.
It is a white cream and the tube opening is so small you can create tiny cream lines! Anyhow, when you rub the cream together it doesn’t really foam or come together which was a little strange. Nevertheless, it overall worked well.
This cleanser is a travel size of 30mL and lasts for 6M. The full size 150mL product retails for £49. A little expensive considering it’s a cleanser. SCORE = 7/10
The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5
I love serums! I love serums so much because they are the perfect skincare addons to adjust any cream, mask, or other cosmetic product to your needs.
This simple yet to the point serum contains 2% hyaluronic acid and vitamin B5. You are supposed to use it before a moisturiser to enhance hydration. Make sure to always use a moisturiser after a serum especially one containing hyaluronic acid, in order to get the maximum moisturisation potential.
This serum worked well but was a little more difficult than other serums to handle, due to its slightly glue-like behaviour. However, that is a good thing because it means that it contains a good amount of hyaluronic acid (which is what is making it thicker like a gel or glue). My skin absolutely loved this, I will probably dedicate an entire post on it and I highly recommend you build yourself a little serum stash to take your skincare to the next level.
This 30mL glass tube with a dropper is a full size which lasts for 12M and retails for only £5.90. Zero excuses, add hyaluronic acid in your routine asap! SCORE = 9/10
Overall, I absolutely loved this box. This box was spot on and well balanced, containing both skincare and makeup items. All products contained were very interesting to try out and all fit the theme.
Initial box score, in terms of products and first feelings = 10/10
Overall box score after product testing (average of product scores) = 7.4/10
Star product = The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5
