Glossybox Beauty Box July 2019 – Unboxing and Product Reviews

Glossybox is in my opinion the best value for money beauty box simply because it is the most consistent. Plus, you can get the postage money back by answering quick surveys about the products making it essentially a £10 box!

This month’s theme was all about summer vibes but I must say I didn’t get any at all. Even the tanning product reminds me more of winter because that’s the time people are most likely to use it.

This month’s box contained 5 products as always, of which only 1 was full size and the other 4 were travel size.

Let’s have a look at the products in more detail. These are short reviews that cover first impressions and experiences from using the products. For full reviews, including ingredient analysis and if I would recommend a product or not, check out: Beauty In-depth Reviews & Ingredient Analysis (all articles here). Bear in mind that these are my personal opinions and that beauty is a very personal thing, we all have different skin, requirements and biological build which can influence things. Omorovicza Cleansing Foam

This is a wet face cleanser with a very fresh smell of lime combined with something I couldn’t define. The packaging is very nice, simple but elegant.

It cleans the face nicely and even takes out makeup very well. It doesn’t strip out your natural face oils completely, so you are left with a nice clean but not dry skin feeling.

It is a white cream and the tube opening is so small you can create tiny cream lines! Anyhow, when you rub the cream together it doesn’t really foam or come together which was a little strange. Nevertheless, it overall worked well.

This 30mL cleanser is a travel size and lasts for 6M. The full size 150mL product retails for £49 and the travel size for £18. A little expensive considering it’s a cleanser. SCORE = 7/10

Palmer’s Bronze Body Lotion

This body lotion is meant to hydrate your skin and give you a little colour. It’s very hard to comment as to whether it is a good product or not after one use (this is a first impressions post for in-depth posts check out: Beauty In-depth Reviews & Ingredient Analysis (all articles here)), it’s also very hard to comment on the colour after just one use, but Palmer’s products are usually very good for their price so the expectations are high.

The cream has an off-white colour and a lovely coconut scent. It spreads easily and leaves the skin feeling moisturised. It gives an overall very pleasant experience and I am excited to use this product further.

It contains some good skincare compounds and vegetable based tanning ingredients. It is also suitable for all skin types.

This 20mL travel size tube retails for £2.49 and the full size 250mL for £5.99. This product lasts for 12M. SCORE = 8/10

Moroccanoil Treatment

This oil treatment is suitable for all hair types. The term treatment can be a little confusing as it is not something that you put on your hair and then wash away but rather a product that you use on clean dry hair. It is more like a styling product.

It is very simple ingredient-wise, containing only 7 ingredients of which 2 are dyes. The only ingredients that could mainly offer some benefit are the Argan oil and Linseed extract but at the same time you have to remember that hair outside the follicle is dead and therefore the real benefit are likely just simple texture conditioning.

This travel size 25mL bottle retails for £13.45 (full size 100mL is £31.85) and lasts for 18M. SCORE = 5/10

Manna Kadar Cosmetics Bloom Mascara

Not sure whether I like or hate this twisted mascara packaging but I will definitely remember it, so I guess that’s good.

The thick wand has hair brushes that are spaced and so looks a little strange but it works well. The mascara The ingredients are very basic, perhaps a little too basic for the price tag.

It gives long naturally looking lashes but doesn’t add any thickness. It’s a great option for no-makeup makeup looks.

This 10mL full size mascara retails for £23 and doesn’t have a lasts for xM label. SCORE = 7/10

Boots Tea Tree & Witch Hazel Peel Off and Charcoal Face Mask

This peel off mask is meant to clean and calm your skin in 15 minutes. It is pleasant to use and although it leaves them skin clean, it has a very low skincare value. That’s ok though as this is not meant to be a nourishing mask. It is worth mentioning though that it contains fragrance and methylparaben if you choose to avoid them.

This 10mL one-use satchel retails for £1 but the full size 50mL product retails for £4. Regardless, I love that Glossybox chose to include a Boots product, can we have No7 products please? SCORE = 6/10

Glossybox July 2019 5_20190715140145730

Overall, the summer theme is exactly what we need but it didn’t come across at all. The products contained though were all interesting to try and in the end that’s all that matters. I must say though that Glossybox felt a little cheap this month which is not great.

Initial box score, in terms of products and first feelings = 7/10

Overall box score after product testing (average of product scores) = 6.6/10

Star product = Palmer’s Bronze Body Lotion
