Look Fantastic went for a “Heatwave” theme this month and the products sort of matched! This doesn’t happen very often, so it was a pleasant surprise!
This beauty box always comes with a quote under the lid and this month it said: “Sunshine is the best medicine“. Not sure I would agree that it is the best, but it’s definitely in the top and is one of those things that can instantly change our mood!
The Look Fantastic box also always comes with a small monthly Beauty Magazine that has a little more information about the products contained and some other featured products, and a travel size, but full edition, of the ELLE magazine. This beauty box is such an amazing value for money. To subscribe to Look Fantastic and get £5 off your first box click here.
This month’s box contained 6 products.
Let’s have a look at the products in more detail. These are short reviews that cover first impressions and experiences from using the products. For full reviews, including ingredient analysis and if I would recommend a product or not, check out: Beauty In-depth Reviews & Ingredient Analysis (all articles here). Bear in mind that these are my personal opinions and that beauty is a very personal thing, we all have different skin, requirements and biological build which can influence things. Luxie 737 Tapered Highlighter Brush
This brush looks great and feels luxurious. From the grip handle design to the soft material it is made of, there is something about this brush that stands out and makes me want to use it.
It’s easy to use, the bristles are soft and it cleans well. It applies highlighter nicely too, although I personally prefer a thinner brush for that.
This is a full-size brush and it retails for £26.50. Although it’s a nice tool that I will definitely be using, the price feels excessive. SCORE = 8/10
Bellápierre Heatwave Highlighting Palette
This cute little highlighter palette is simple but it does the job. There are 5 different shades to compliment your look and they all work well. They are not the most blinding highlighters out there but they look natural and do not create texture.
This is a full-size palette (9g) that lasts for 24M and retails for £29.99. The product is good but the price is excessive, especially considering the packaging. This product looks like the drugstore type and does not look or feel its price. SCORE = 8/10
James Read 1 Hour Glow Mask Face Body
I am the shade I want to be at the moment, so I didn’t get to try this product. However, James Read products tend to be of good quality so I have high expectations for it.
Since I didn’t try this product, I cannot score it.
Natura Herb Infused Sheet Mask
Who doesn’t love a good face mask with a glass of wine or a hot chocolate at the end of the day?
I’ve thoroughly enjoyed this mask, it left my skin soft and nice feeling but I can’t say that I’ve noticed any other effect. The ingredients did not particularly impress me either but that’s fine as long as you are aware that masks tend to be (most of the time not always) more about relaxation rather than skincare addons that will make a huge difference. Relaxing and having a bit of me-time can be amazing for your skin too and if you choose a mask with ingredients that are not contained in the rest of your regime, then it could be a valuable addon.
This mask is vegan, full-size, not animal tested and retails for £4.95. SCORE = 7/10
Doucce Luscious Lip Stain In Holiday Getaway
If you read any of my previous posts you will know that I am not a liquid lipstick fan, as I have dry lips and hate the drying effect of liquid lipsticks. I also think that there is still a lot of formulation improvements that need to be done and that liquid lipsticks in general are not as good as I would expect.
This liquid lipstick wasn’t any different. It stayed on for hours but came of when eating or drinking, which in my opinion beats the point of a liquid lipstick. If it’s not going to be “flawless” then why not just wear a normal lipstick and avoid the drying effect?
Nevertheless, it wasn’t streaky and it felt lightweight on the lips. It wasn’t as drying as other liquid lipsticks but neither moisturising.
I also loved the tiny little lipstick packaging. I’m not often a fan of small sized cosmetics but this one is super cute and incredibly travel friendly.
This liquid lipstick has a very subtle but sweet cosmetic smell which is pleasant, and the wand is of standard quality.
This travel size lip stain retails for £11.95. I wrote a lengthy review on this product here. SCORE = 7/10
Rituals Cream On Nourishing Body Cream The Ritual Of Holi
I love how great the Rituals products often smell like and they also tend to look nice.
This cream has a soft powdery and floral scent and a creamy texture. It spreads easily and is absorbed quickly, leaving the skin feeling moisturised.
The ingredients though are not particularly impressive, but the experience is positive.
This 100mL body cream lasts for 12M and retails for £6.90. SCORE = 7/10
Overall, this month’s box was good, I wasn’t blown away but I did enjoy it. Look Fantastic has been missing the wow factor in 2019 but this box was better than previous months, so let’s hope it’s picking up.
Initial box score, in terms of products and first feelings = 7/10
Overall box score after product testing (average of product scores) = 7.4/10
Star product = Luxie 737 Tapered Highlighter Brush
