Morphe 35O Nature Glow vs Morphe 35O2 Second Nature. Which one is best?

Morphe eyeshadow palettes are generally of great quality and low price. They might not have all the bells and whistles of the high-end ones, like specially designed packaging, a mirror, a brush or other perks but their quality competes, and the price is often half of that of a high-end one!

However, there are now quite a few Morphe eyeshadow palettes and only so much time to try and use them up. In this post we will be comparing the two, likely most iconic ones, the Morphe 35O Nature Glow and the 35O2 Second Nature. Which one is worth your money and time? Let’s find out.

Packaging

Both palettes come in the same packaging so there isn’t much to compare here.

These palettes come in simple but elegant black outer packaging. The eye shadow palettes are made of black, hard plastic with a simple “MORPHE” writing at the front and minimal information at the back. They look simple and the material gathers lots of finger prints but they are great for their price.

There is no mirror inside, just the Morphe logo and the popular #morphebabe. In the new Morphe palette versions, the shadows come with their names but printed on a clear plastic that goes over them. It’s a nice addition but at the same time not a very practical one as I’m sure many of us will end up just throwing that plastic away.

Winner: Equal.

Colours

Both palettes contain 35 shades. The Morphe 350 Nature Glow palette comes with 21 mattes, 13 shimmers and 1 matte with glitter shades. Of those 13 shimmers, 3 are actually dual-chrome. The Morphe 35O2 Second Nature palette comes with 24 mattes and 11 shimmers. As a result, the balance between matte and shimmers is very similar in both palettes.

The 350 Nature Glow palette contains golds, campaigns, browns and oranges but a lot of them are too similar to be worth it, especially the browns. The palette is also lacking a black which is a must have in any palette but does contain bone colours and bone colour highlighters as well as oranges for blending.

The 35O2 Second Nature contains mainly contains browns and oranges but again a lot of them are too similar to be worth it, especially the browns. At least this palette has a black colour but it is lacking bone colours and bone colour highlighters.

So, since one contains bone colours and highlighters and the other a black you could say that they compliment each other nicely. However, they are both plagued by a large amount of very similar shades, not just in each palette but between them too which means that in practice you are not really getting 70 shades if you buy them both. Both palettes contain beautiful colours. The 350 Nature Glow is more easily wearable whereas the 35O2 Second Nature will give you more stunning looks. If I had to personally choose, I’d go for the 350 Nature Glow because it is wearable at any occasion whereas the intensity of the 35O2 Second Nature can be limiting.

Winner: The 350 Nature Glow is easier to wear and utilise for different occasions.

Pigmentation and Texture

Both palettes are nicely pigmented for the type and shades they contain. Neither contain any problematic shades and most of them feel somewhere between buttery and powdery.

Blendability

All shadows from both palettes blend easily and well.

Longevity

I always use the Urban Decay original eye shadow primer and with that the shadows from both palettes last all day and do not crease. In general, some colour intensity was lost during wear but not more than normal.

Winner: Equal.

Transfer proof tests

These shadows do not transfer if you touch them but of course, if you rub them they will quickly fade away. They also quickly fade away if you blend too much.

It’s worth noticing that some of the orange shadows from both palettes stain when swatched. However, if you use an eyeshadow primer they will not stain your eyes.

Winner: Equal.

Other

Both palettes last for 12M. It can be considered a little short considering that other palettes can last for 2 years. On the other hand, if you haven’t significantly used this palette in a year then it might be time to declutter!

Ingredients

Both palettes contain very similar ingredients and neither are skincare-worthy, they are makeup items after all. Neither palette contains red-flag ingredients that you should by all means avoid.

However, both palettes contain talc. As a chemist I can tell you that there is no scientific proof that talc is harmful. For more details and information on the safety on talc check out: Is talc in cosmetics safe?

Verdict

The score of 350 Nature Glow 1 vs 35O2 Second Nature 0 can be considered a little personal as the deciding factor between the two palettes is ONLY the colour selection. Ingredient-wise, function-wise, price-wise etc they are the same.

If you can only afford one, it really comes down to which one you like best. I’m sure you are thinking what I am thinking here, the 35O2 Second Nature is so much more attractive and exciting looking however, my advice would be to go for the 350 Nature Glow instead. It is much easier to wear and will be unusable in many more occasions than the, granted gorgeous, 35O2 Second Nature.

If you can afford both though, just do it!
