Last beauty box of 2019! Exciting and sad at the same time! For some reason Glossybox was the last to arrive this month but it doesn’t really matter.
This month’s theme was Merry Metallics which suits the holiday season and is quite exciting. The box itself was absolutely gorgeous with a simple but elegant gold and red pattern. Love the box will definetely keep this one around for a while!
This month’s box contained 5 products as always, of which all 5 were full size!
Let’s have a look at the products in more detail. These are short reviews that cover first impressions and experiences from using the products. Laplash Cosmetics Golden Gatsby 3D Faux Mink Lashes
I don’t wear eyelashes often but they can be a nice addon for the holiday party looks and so they were perfect for this month’s box.
These Faux Mink Lashes were fun to wear and stayed on all day. They don’t come with a glue but I actually find that better as the included glues aren’t usually as good. They are a little too long and fancy for wear as casual every day but that is why they are perfect for the glam holiday look.
These lashes cost 9.75 but they are reusable if you treat them right. They are cruelty free and the perfect accessory to elevate the party look. SCORE = 8/10
Steve Laurant Loose Powder Pigment
I’ve said this many times before, I am not a fan of the individual pigment/eyeshadow because it will go in a drawer and I will just forget about it. I prefer palettes even if they are not perfect because I will see them and use them more often.
However, with that being said, there is the odd individual pigment that stands out so much that you will remember it! And this one is it for me. I love a good rose-gold colour, it looks great on anyone and it is appropriate for both glam and more smart casual looks.
I did have some fallout when I used it as an eyeshadow but that’s ok it’s a loose power.
This pigment is super pretty, you could even use it as a highlighter if you like a strong pinky colour. The packaging is also very pretty but it does feel a little cheap and plasticky.
This 1.5g pigment is a full size which retails for £14.50. I do find this a little expensive especially considering it’s just 5 ingredients but it is so pretty it might just be worth it. Lasts 12M. SCORE = 9/10
Bellapierre Liquid Shadow Eye Candy
Absolutely gorgeous colour as well. Another rose-gold but more on the gold side.
However, I do struggle with wet eyeshadows because I have hooded eyes and they tend to make them crease even, if I use all the tricks I do with normal eyeshadows. But not this one! It actually dried pretty quickly and didn’t loose any shine intensity. It also didn’t feel too heavy on the eyes but that will depend on how and what else you apply.
Love it, looks gorgeous and over the top shiny, exactly what is needed during the holidays.
This tube contains 3mL, lasts for 24M and retails for £20. SCORE = 9/10
L.O.V Cosmetics LIPaffair Color & Care Lipstick
Well, I love lipsticks. But when I saw that there were a couple of nice warm reds I was a little dissapointed to get the nude one. I mean come on, it’s the holiday season, it’s all about the red lipstick!
The lipstick I got is in the colour No 900 Nude Devotion and it’s a soft brown with some pink undertones. It’s very buttery and easy to apply. It doesn’t feel heavy at all or sticky. Like any lipstick it does transfer but a little less than normal!
It’s a very good nude actually and there are good reasons to wear nude lipsticks during the holidays, especially if you go for an over the top eye look.
I love the simplicity and how expensive the packaging feels. Everything was nice about this lipstick and I even got over the initial colour dissapointment.
This 3.5g lipstick is full size, lasts for 18M and retails for £8.90. First impressions were very good but ingredient-wise it’s not that special. I don’t usually look at the ingredients of a product when I do these first impressions reviews but I was intrigued enough and that’s a good sign. The Glossybox leaflet claimed that it contains Hyaluronic filling spheres but that wasn’t stated in the ingredient list of the brand’s website, so I’m going to guess that it’s not true, even though it does feel buttery and soft. SCORE = 9/10
Original Source Sweet Rhubarb & Raspberry Gel
Glossybox has made a habit of including shower gels and I must admit that getting a shower gel in your beauty box is not the most exciting situation, but it’s a practical product that you will use!
There isn’t really much to say here, this is a very simple and cheap product and it’s a rinse off so the ingredients are not as important. It does the job and if you like the scent it can also be a pleasant experience.
This 250mL bottle is a full size which retails for £2.30 and lasts for 12M. SCORE = 7/10
Overall, a very exciting box and fitting to end 2019. I loved the products and they all suit the theme. Plus the actual box was gorgeous as well! Very excited to see how Glossybox will do in 2020!
Initial box score, in terms of products and first feelings = 9/10
Overall box score after product testing (average of product scores) = 8.4/10
Star product = L.O.V Cosmetics LIPaffair Color & Care Lipstick
